Greece’s most popular sports company has said it is no longer interested in developing the sports equipment and training gear of its competitors.
Sports equipment company Gambit Sports has a significant presence in the country, having developed the sportswear for Olympians.
But Gambit said in a statement it was looking at new opportunities in other areas of the Greek economy.
Gambit said it had invested $1.6 billion in sports equipment, training gear and sporting goods, but has since scaled back on its ambitions.
Gamity said it planned to spend up to $1 billion on the new sports and training equipment in the coming years.
It said it would also use its expertise to develop its own sports products.
Gambet Sports has been a pioneer in Greece’s sports industry and has had a large presence in Athens.
Its sports team Olympiakos won gold in Athens last month and is set to compete in the 2016 Olympic Games.
Gambtis equipment is based in Athens, with the company also developing equipment for the Athens Marathon, Athens Panhellenic Games, the Athens Panem Games and the Athens Olympic Games, it said.
Gamble Sports is based at the same building in Athens where it built the Athens Aquatics Centre.
It is part of the global sports equipment company Olympus Group.
The company said it will continue to develop sports equipment for its customers and in its existing facilities in Greece.
Greece’s new government is set for a budget surplus next year and has been criticized for a record debt that is due to the country’s economic crisis.
