New England QB Jacoby Brady Brissett is the latest Patriots QB to get big day in the NFL.
Brissett will wear No. 8 on his jersey for the New England football team during the second half of Sunday’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the team announced.
The Patriots also announced that he will be on the sideline for the first quarter of the game, but that he’ll return for the third quarter.
Briskett, a native of Florida, was drafted in the fifth round of the 2017 NFL Draft by the Patriots in the sixth round.
He was the third quarterback taken in that year’s draft, joining rookie Brock Osweiler and former Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill.
Briz’s big-game day comes at a critical time for the Patriots.
They need Brady to get back on track to win a division title for the second straight season.
The team is currently fifth in the AFC East and has won four straight.
Britt has been nursing a groin injury since Week 1, but the Patriots announced he was cleared to play Sunday.
Brizzt led the Patriots with a career-high six touchdown passes in Sunday’s win over the Bucs.
He also added four rushing touchdowns and added six receptions for 57 yards and a touchdown.
He became the first quarterback in franchise history to have at least seven touchdowns and five rushing touchdowns in consecutive games.
Britton had an interception returned for a touchdown in the second quarter and scored the go-ahead touchdown with 4:23 remaining in the game.
He threw for a career high-tying nine touchdown passes against the Buccaneers in Week 3 of the season.
Bris is the fifth player in franchise lore to get a big day at the pro level.
He is joined by: Mike Holmgren, Mike Holmdoe, Joe Gibbs, Joe Banner and Vince Lombardi.
